Lakeville Business Roundtable Summit Highlights Path to Supporting Local Businesses
ST. PAUL – This Friday, Representative Jeff Witte (R-Lakeville) and Senator Zach Duckworth (R-Lakeville) hosted the Lakeville Business Roundtable Summit, bringing together over 20 business owners from around the Lakeville area to discuss the issues that matter most to the local business community. The summit provided a valuable opportunity for business owners to engage directly with lawmakers, share concerns, and work together toward solutions that can help businesses not only survive but thrive.

Representative Witte emphasized the importance of listening to local entrepreneurs and finding ways to support them through thoughtful, commonsense legislation. With Minnesota facing a significant budget deficit due to reckless government spending, it is clear that we must act quickly to pass legislation that ensures businesses are not unfairly burdened by unnecessary regulation and taxation.
"I want to sincerely thank every business owner who took the time to join us today. This is hands down the best part of my job—getting to sit down with the people in my community, hear their concerns, and take them back to the Capitol to make real change," said Representative Jeff Witte. "Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and it’s our job to ensure they have the support they need to grow and thrive. I also want to extend a special thank you to Lakeville Hy-Vee for graciously hosting us in their fantastic conference room. It was the perfect setting for a great conversation. I am also incredibly grateful for all the hardworking Hy-Vee employees who helped bring this event together, as well as their amazing families for supporting them. It’s the people who make these events truly special."
The summit was a crucial moment for lawmakers and business owners to discuss the legislative challenges small businesses face, particularly with Minnesota’s current budget deficit. As shown in the graph below, reckless government spending has led to a growing deficit, directly impacting business owners. Representative Witte and Senator Duckworth are committed to working together to address this deficit and make the necessary spending cuts to help our state get back on track.
"This kind of collaboration is vital to the future of our state," said Senator Zach Duckworth. "By listening to the concerns of local businesses, we can work together to craft legislation that fosters a business-friendly environment, reduces unnecessary burdens, and creates opportunities for long-term success."
The event was a reminder of how powerful community collaboration can be in shaping the future of Minnesota’s economy. As legislators continue their work in the Capitol, Representative Witte and Senator Duckworth remain committed to ensuring that the voices of small business owners are heard and that the policies they advocate for will help pave the way for a stronger, more prosperous future for Minnesota’s businesses.
